Board-level electronics repair

This is the work I like most. When something won't power on, cuts out, or got bricked by a bad update, there's usually one failed part on the board. I find it and replace it.

Stereos, receivers and AV gear

Receivers that go into protect mode, amps with one dead channel, CD and DVD players and changers that won't read or won't load, tape decks with worn belts. Older gear is often worth fixing because it was built better than what replaces it.

TVs

No power, no picture, or a picture that flickers or goes dark. Backlight and power supply problems are common and fixable. A cracked screen usually isn't worth it on a TV, and I'll tell you so.

Industrial controllers

I've worked on industrial CNC machines and semi truck computers. If you run a shop in the area and a control board, display or power supply on a machine has failed, send me photos and part numbers. I'll tell you quickly whether it's something I can repair, which is often faster than waiting on a replacement that may not exist anymore.

Bricked devices

Things that died after a firmware update or a bad flash. I can often read and rewrite the chip directly.

What I won't take

CRT TVs and monitors, microwaves, and anything else where the risk to me or you isn't worth it. If I'm not the right person for something, I'll say so.

Tell me what's broken

Send me what it is and what it's doing. A photo helps. I'll get back to you, usually the same day, with whether I can fix it and what it'll cost. If I can't fix it, you don't pay anything.
